But Wynn is ahead with wOBA (.383-.371), wRC+ (140-132), DRC+ (145-123). They were both okay fielders, but Wynn played a more important position. Wynn was a better baserunner. All told, Wynn wins WARP (4.5-2.7) and fWAR (5.0-4.8), behind in bWAR (5.1-4.7). I'll buy it's a tossup whether Wynn was better. There's more evidence saying he was, but it's not clear-cut. But they are definitely at the same level, despite Wynn playing hurt the last month and a half of the season and missing a lot of time. Cey, Lopes, and Wynn/Garvey top four.Robnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3219620091306018703.post-73991982339023744472022-11-02T18:43:39.367-04:002022-11-02T18:43:39.367-04:00FFS Wynn was not as good as Garvey in 1975.FFS Wynn was not as good as Garvey in 1975.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3219620091306018703.post-27238982312375316922015-03-24T15:03:17.605-04:002015-03-24T15:03:17.605-04:00Also declining since 2012 is the price you need to...Also declining since 2012 is the price you need to pay to scalp a ticket to see the Twins. But the games themselves weren't all that competitive. SL 4-0, DET 8-1, SL 7-3, SL 10-1, DET 5-3, DET 13-1, DET 4-1. Every game was pretty much done after seven. It was a little like this one--it's great that it went seven, but the games themselves weren't very close.

Gauging the health of baseball from network TV ratings is a misunderstanding of the economic models. What I recall is that he knew the cutter (had thrown it a little in the past) and wanted a pitch with more speed than a slider/curve and more break than the two-seamer. His choice of secondary pitches does seem a little random to me.
